The last few years have seen exciting developments in the food scene on Martha’s Vineyard with the addition of some excellent new restaurants and the revamping of some old favorites.

Vineyard Haven has become the center of restaurant and foodie activity in recent years with the opening of several new spots.
El Barco opened in July 2024 taking the island’s taqueria scene to another level. Owned by the Boston and island based Patrick Lyons Group, this outdoor eatery delivers outstanding tacos, a laid-back island vibe and views of the waterfront and the ferries arriving on Martha’s Vineyard.
La Strada is a coffee bar/wine bar with the best panini’s this side of the South End. An offshoot of Salvatore’s Italian restaurant, La Strada is located directly on Main Street in Vineyard Haven.
Maker Cafe opened in 2025 in Vineyard Haven and is owned and run by renown island chef Carlos Montoya. Providing freshly made pasta dishes and inventive entrees this is a year round eatery in the old Little House Café location.
The Ocean Club opened in 2025 to much fanfare. Award winning chef Marc Orfaly has brought Boston level fine dining to the island. Housed in the landmark stone bank building on Main Street in Vineyard Haven this is another venture from local resident and Boston restauranteur Patrick Lyons.
Vineyard Grill located at Five Corners in Vineyard Haven offers Brazilian-inspired breakfasts, lunch buffet and great burgers and beer in the evenings.

In Oak Bluffs the infamous Red Cat Kitchen has moved location from Kennebec Avenue to Circuit Avenue and doubled in size.
Linda Jean’s changed hands in 2025 and is now under the stewardship of Doug Abdelnour Jr. (owner of the iconic Nancy’s Restaurant and Noman’s). It will open in 2026 as a casual dining spot for breakfast and lunch. We wait to see if the name remains the same.
Offshore Ale Co. announced plans for an expansion to increase their food seating and offerings. This won’t be done until 2027.
Chef Deon’s Kitchen at VFW changed hands with Chef Deon moving into a well-deserved retirement. It has reopened as the Honorary Tavern under Chef Shamel Abraham, who previously ran the kitchen at Coop de Ville.

In Edgartown Mike Santoro (owner of Fishbones, Net Result and Lookout Tavern) added Rockfish to his group of eateries. Open year-round this Edgartown staple now offers Mike’s typical specials and affordable options.
Plans have been approved for a new General Store on Main Street opening 2027 and offering lunch options for take-out.
Indigo opened in 2025 to much excitement, and rightly so. Opening in the old Sharky’s Cantina location, Indigo is a year-round addition serving up authentic Indian cuisine. Thank you!
