Why June is a great month to visit Martha’s Vineyard (summary):
– Great weather for hiking, biking, kayaking
– No crowds on the beaches
– All restaurants are open and aren’t booked out
– Farmers’ Market season starts
– Martha’s Vineyard Music Film Festival takes place
– Harborfest, Juneteenth Festival and Pride Weekend
– First Friday in Vineyard Haven starts

June is the official start of summer and a great choice for scheduling your Martha’s Vineyard trip. You get to enjoy the great weather and plenty of fun events and activities whilst avoiding the July and August hordes that descend upon the island’s beaches during the day and then book out the restaurants in the evening .
June’s weather is perfect for outdoor activities as the summer humidity and heat is yet to arrive. You can grab one of the Nobnocket bikes and head along the water to Oak Bluffs and Edgartown or take a ride around the State Forest. If you prefer two feet to two wheels, then head to one of Martha’s Vineyard‘s scenic hiking locations like Cedar Tree Neck, Menemsha Hills or Great Rock Bight. Or if you take your activities sitting down then arrange for a kayak drop off with Island Spirit Kayaks and go explore Edgartown Great Pond, Lake Tashmoo or Lagoon Pond from a kayak and get up close and personal with local swans or the myriad of ducks that call the island home.

Events in June to fill your non-beach days include the West Tisbury Farmers’ Markets (Wednesdays & Saturdays), Juneteenth Events (June 19th), Pride Weekend, The Martha’s Vineyard Music Film Festival, Harborfest, “Jaws” anniversary events and First Friday Vineyard Haven.
At the Nobnocket, June is also when we’ll kick-off our garden yoga with the awesome instructors from Yoga On The Vine. Taking place three times a week from mid-June this is a complimentary amenity for our guests.

But ultimately Martha’s Vineyard is about the water, whether you are relaxing soaking up the sun on one of our pristine beaches like South Beach, Moshup Beach, Lobsterville Beach, East Beach, Lambert’s Cove Beach or State Beach or heading out onto the water with Island Girl Excursions or Black Dog Tallships.
